Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic and inspiring day at Sunderland University, where they had the chance to experience what life at university could be like in the future. The children took part in a range of engaging sessions that helped them develop valuable transferable skills, including teamwork, resilience and communication.

One of the activities that caused the biggest reaction was the germ investigation task — pupils were amazed (and a little shocked!) by just how many germs could be found on their hands. Safe to say, we’ll be seeing some very enthusiastic hand‑washing routines in the coming days!

The visit also included a guided tour around the university’s lecture theatres, seminar rooms and specialist facilities. This gave pupils the opportunity to explore potential future pathways, opening their eyes to exciting careers in areas such as robotics, law, game development, TV production and many more.

The day was a brilliant opportunity for our Year 6 pupils to broaden their horizons, build confidence and start thinking about their futures. We are incredibly proud of how engaged, mature and enthusiastic they were throughout the visit.
