St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School in Darlington is celebrating the creativity of its pupils, as Class 6 recently enjoyed an engaging art session focused on oil pastels. The lesson gave children the opportunity to experiment with a range of techniques, helping them develop both their artistic skills and confidence in creative expression.
An Action-Packed Sports Morning at Middleton Tyas
Class 7 pupils recently enjoyed a brilliant morning of sport during their visit to Middleton Tyas, taking part in both rounders and football matches. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to stay active, work together, and represent their class in a competitive and supportive environment.
A Magical Week in Nursery
What an exciting week it has been in Nursery! The children have loved watching our tiny caterpillars grow and transform into beautiful butterflies. There was lots of curiosity and excitement as the children observed each stage of the life cycle, made predictions, and took part in a range of creative activities inspired by butterflies.
Representing St Teresa’s at Darlington Station Opening
Some of our pupils from Class 9 had the wonderful opportunity to represent St Teresa’s at the opening of Darlington’s newly redeveloped train station facilities. During the visit, the children listened attentively to a range of inspiring speeches delivered by representatives from Darlington Council, British Rail and the UK Government. They also enjoyed performances from local singers and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, making the event a truly memorable celebration.
Exploring Tectonic Plates in Geography
In Geography this week, Class 7 took part in an exciting hands-on lesson to explore how tectonic plates move and interact. Using playdough as a creative model, the pupils demonstrated what happens when tectonic plates meet. They showed how plates can push together (converge), pull apart (diverge) and slide past each other, helping them understand how these movements can lead to the formation of mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes.
A Wonderful Start Back for Nursery at St Teresa’s
Our Nursery children at St Teresa’s have had a lovely first couple of weeks back following the Easter break. It has been wonderful to see the children settle back into their routines with such enthusiasm and joy, enjoying a wide range of activities that support their learning and development.
Celebrating Faith and Achievement at St Teresa’s
This week, the children enjoyed listening to the story of Jesus as the gatekeeper, reflecting on His role as our loving Shepherd who guides and protects us. We gave thanks for His care and presence in our lives, and it was wonderful to see the children engaging so thoughtfully with this message.

A huge thank you to everyone in our school community who supported this year’s Easter Egg Raffle. Thanks to your generosity, we raised an incredible £350, which will go towards purchasing new IT equipment for our children — a fantastic outcome that will benefit learning across the school.
Celebrating a Beautiful Performance
We are incredibly proud of 15 of our Year 4 pupils who took to the stage at the Hippodrome to perform a beautiful lyrical dance. The children danced wonderfully, demonstrating confidence, grace and commitment throughout their performance. It was a joy to watch them showcase their hard work and talent on such a special stage, and they represented our school superbly.
Class 7 Leads a Thoughtful Reflection on the Stations of the Cross
Yesterday, Class 7 guided us through a moving and thoughtful reflection on each Station of the Cross, helping us to remember Jesus’ journey of pain, suffering, and the compassion shown by those He met along the way. Their careful retelling encouraged us all to pause, reflect, and appreciate the significance of each moment on His path.
