Exploring Future STEM Careers at Hopetown Museum
On Tuesday, children from Year 5 and Year 6 enjoyed an exciting visit to Hopetown Museum, where they joined pupils from schools across the town for a fantastic STEM Careers Event. The event brought together a wide range of STEM-based companies and organisations, giving children the opportunity to explore the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Through a variety of interactive activities and hands-on experiences, pupils discovered how STEM skills are used in different industries and careers.
St Teresa's Takes Part in Guinness World Record Attempt!
On Thursday, children from across the school took part in an exciting Guinness World Record attempt for the most people reading online over a 12-hour period. Throughout the day, pupils enjoyed a range of engaging activities, including virtual workshops with authors and interactive draw-along sessions led by illustrators. The event inspired a love of reading and creativity, while giving children the opportunity to learn from experts in the world of books and storytelling.
Supporting Mission Together Through Our Non-Uniform Day
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our recent non-school uniform day in aid of Mission Together, the Pope's charity for children around the world. Thanks to the generosity of our pupils, families and staff, we have been able to contribute to the important work of helping children and communities in need across the globe. Every donation, no matter how small, will help make a positive difference to the lives of others.
Celebrating St Teresa's Feast Day and Little Way Week
This week, our school community has been joyfully celebrating Little Way Week as we prepare for St Teresa's Feast Day and reflect on the inspiring life and message of St Thérèse of Lisieux, our school patron saint. Last Friday, we were delighted to welcome Maria from Mission Together, the children's branch of Missio, the Pope's charity. Maria spoke to the children about St Thérèse and her teaching of the 'Little Way', reminding us that we do not need to do extraordinary things to make a difference. Instead, we can show God's love through small acts of kindness, service, prayer and love in our everyday lives.
Class 10 Leads Inspiring Celebration of the Word on Self-Belief
Pupils at St Teresa's Catholic Primary School, Darlington gathered for a thoughtful and prayerful Celebration of the Word led by Class 10, centred on the theme of self-belief. The children shared a powerful message from the Gospel: "Anything is possible for those who believe."
Year 5 Enjoy Memorable Visit to Beamish Museum
Year 5 pupils at St Teresa's Catholic Primary School, Darlington, enjoyed a fantastic day out at Beamish Museum, taking part in a range of exciting activities and learning experiences. During their visit, the children learned about traditional Romany Gypsy camps, gaining an insight into the history, culture and way of life of travelling communities. They also enjoyed riding on traditional fairground attractions and listening to Irish Traveller songs, helping to bring the past to life.
Class 6 Explore Creativity with Oil Pastels
St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School in Darlington is celebrating the creativity of its pupils, as Class 6 recently enjoyed an engaging art session focused on oil pastels. The lesson gave children the opportunity to experiment with a range of techniques, helping them develop both their artistic skills and confidence in creative expression.
An Action-Packed Sports Morning at Middleton Tyas
Class 7 pupils recently enjoyed a brilliant morning of sport during their visit to Middleton Tyas, taking part in both rounders and football matches. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to stay active, work together, and represent their class in a competitive and supportive environment.
A Magical Week in Nursery
What an exciting week it has been in Nursery! The children have loved watching our tiny caterpillars grow and transform into beautiful butterflies. There was lots of curiosity and excitement as the children observed each stage of the life cycle, made predictions, and took part in a range of creative activities inspired by butterflies.
Representing St Teresa’s at Darlington Station Opening
Some of our pupils from Class 9 had the wonderful opportunity to represent St Teresa’s at the opening of Darlington’s newly redeveloped train station facilities. During the visit, the children listened attentively to a range of inspiring speeches delivered by representatives from Darlington Council, British Rail and the UK Government. They also enjoyed performances from local singers and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, making the event a truly memorable celebration.
Exploring Tectonic Plates in Geography
In Geography this week, Class 7 took part in an exciting hands-on lesson to explore how tectonic plates move and interact. Using playdough as a creative model, the pupils demonstrated what happens when tectonic plates meet. They showed how plates can push together (converge), pull apart (diverge) and slide past each other, helping them understand how these movements can lead to the formation of mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes.
A Wonderful Start Back for Nursery at St Teresa’s
Our Nursery children at St Teresa’s have had a lovely first couple of weeks back following the Easter break. It has been wonderful to see the children settle back into their routines with such enthusiasm and joy, enjoying a wide range of activities that support their learning and development.
